Retired Law Enforcement Cards
In December of 2005 Act 79, the Retired Law Enforcement Identification Act was signed into law. MPOETC (Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission permits the Sheriff’s Office to issue identification and firearms qualification cards for retired law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania.
Interested retired law enforcement officers in Carbon County should obtain their blue card from a certified MPOETC Firearms Instructor after qualifying. They should bring their card to the Sheriff’s Office along with a certified check or money order for $5.00 made out to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Sheriff will then sign your card which is valid for 1 year.
